ACTIVITY REPORT OF THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) CHAIR ON

WATERWAYS, INLAND AND CRUISE PORTS June 2023 - December 2025

(approved during the first plenary session)

I. General objective of the TAG: The TAG on Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports seeks to promote the development of logistical efficiency, foreign trade and sustainable tourism in the region.

In this regard, understanding the waterways and inland ports as the great engine of inter-regional and global trade, knowing their importance for regional connectivity, will continue working for the achievement of an integrated port system. The TAG will focus on compliance with responsible tourism practices necessary to achieve the reactivation of the industry and, along with it, the benefits it brings to the region.

II. Members of the TAG: Chairman: National Agency of Ports and Navigation (ANPYN), Argentina Vice President: National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP), Paraguay

Member States: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile,

III. Activities implemented from June 2023 to December 2025 in the context of the mandates established for each TAG Chair in the 2023-2026 Plan of Action of

Roatan.

1. In support of activities to strengthen technical capacities and in continuity with the Action Plan, update surveys and/or databases on their focus topics.

1. Name of the activity: Database of experts on waterways, inland and cruise ports. ii. Objective: Generate a national database containing the contact information of experts on waterways, inland and cruise ports.

This database will be available for consultation by the National Port Authorities before June 2026. iii. Responsible Institutions: Chair of the TAG and the CIP Secretariat. iv. Expected Results: Facilitate a national network of contacts on the TAG matters which will be made available to the entire CIP Community.

2. Organize, in the next three (3) years and with the support of the CIP Secretariat, at least one hemispheric conference or seminar on the topics of competence of the

TAG.

1. Name of the activity: Fifth Hemispheric Conference on Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports. ii. Tentative date: April 2026. iii. Objective: To provide an international platform for public and private port dialogue in which decision makers from governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society share successful practices in river transport, emphasizing the economic benefits of an integrated and sustainable port system. iv. Responsible Institutions: Chair of the TAG and the CIP

3. Activities in support of the work of the Secretariat in the context of the CIP Scholarship and Capacity Building Program (e.g. workshops, online courses,

master's degrees, local and/or regional seminars, etc.) As Chair of the TAG on Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports, Argentina, in collaboration with the CIP Secretariat, committed to the port development of the region, planned an ambitious calendar of online courses managed by the National Port Training Center (CENCAPOR) of the Port of Buenos Aires. From June 2023 to December 2025, 9 courses were held training 157 port officials from 15 Member States.

1. Date and place: October 21st to November 15th 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual Platform ii. Responsible Institutions: CENCAPOR, Empresa Multimodal, and the CIP Secretariat. iii. Results: 24 scholarships were awarded to port personnel from 10

CIP Member States.

2. Name of the activity: Online course on port digitalization

1. Date and place: September 10th to October 1st, 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual Platform ii. Responsible Institutions: CENCAPOR and the CIP Secretariat. iii. Results: 27 scholarships were awarded to port officials from 9 CIP

3. Name of the activity: Online course on Protocol, Etiquette and Netiquette in the workplace (second edition)

1. Date and place: May 17th to June 14th, 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual Platform ii. Responsible Institutions: CENCAPOR and the CIP Secretariat. iii. Results: 15 scholarships were awarded to port officials from 4 CIP

4. Name of the activity: Online course on Protocol, Etiquette and Netiquette in the

workplace.

1. Date and place: April 19th to May 10th, 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual Platform ii. Responsible Institutions: CENCAPOR and the CIP Secretariat. iii. Results: 7 scholarships were awarded to port officials from 5 CIP

5. Name of the activity: Online course on port planning.

1. Date and place: April 2nd to May 9th, 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual Platform ii. Responsible Institutions: CENCAPOR, Empresa Multimodal and the CIP Secretariat. iii. Results: 21 scholarships were awarded to port officials from 8 CIP

6. Name of the activity: Program for the development and promotion of the English language in port activities. iv. Date and place: March to December, 2024, CENCAPOR Virtual

1. Name of the activity: 2nd edition of the TAG Information Bulletin: Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports. ii. Tentative date: May 2026 iii. Objective: To generate a space for meeting and networking at both national and international levels with the aim of disseminating the work carried out by ports at a hemispheric level and sharing the actions that are being developed in the TAG’s scope of work. iv. Responsible Institutions: Chair of the TAG and the CIP

Secretariat.

1. Expected results: Increase visibility on the different practices, policies and activities that are being implemented by the National Port Authorities around waterways, inland ports and cruise ports.
