OF THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMITTEE ON PORTS”

UPDATED DATES OF THE FOURTEENTH REGULAR MEETING OF

THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMITTEE ON PORTS THE INTER-AMERICAN COUNCIL FOR INTEGRAL DEVELOPMENT (CIDI), HAVING SEEN resolution [ AG/RES. 3013(LIV-O/24) ] whereby the General Assembly endorsed the Resolution of Roatan 2023 ( CIDI/CIP/RES 1./23) and took note of the Plan of Action of Roatan 2023-2026 (CIDI/CIP/doc. 5/23 rev.1), approved at the Thirteenth Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), which was held in Roatán, Honduras on June 7 to 9, 2023; HAVING SEEN the Resolution of Montevideo 2025 ( CECIP/RES. 1/24 ) welcoming Barbados’ offer to host the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP, and proposing that it be held in June 16 to 18, 2026, in Bridgetown, Barbados under the theme “The scope of Artificial Intelligence: Reshaping strategies for sustainable and secure ports” and including Intervention of institutions from

the Private or Public Sector, International Organizations and Civil Society; HAVING SEEN the Resolution Convocation of the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the InterAmerican Committee on Ports (CIDI/RES.371/25) approved by CIDI during the regular meeting held May 27, 2025; CONSIDERING: That the Government of the Republic of Panama has offered to host the Fifty-sixth Regular Session of the General Assembly (GA) from June 22 to 24, 2026 and that the need for an early commencement of preparatory works, starting June 16, 2026, is necessary; The steadfast commitment of the Government of Barbados to the success of the Fifty-sixth Regular Session of the General Assembly; and aware that the original dates scheduled for the 14th Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Ports present a logistical conflict with the preparatory efforts for said Assembly;" That the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) is a Committee of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) established by resolution AG/RES. 1573 (XXVIII-0/98), in accordance with Articles 93 and 77 of the Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Articles 5 and 15 of the Statutes of CIDI;- 2That it is composed of the highest national government authorities for the port sector and its purpose is to serve as a permanent inter-American forum for member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) to strengthen hemispheric cooperation for port sector development, with the active participation and collaboration of the private sector; That globally, ports are the principal links in the maritime and waterway transportation supply chain and that it is necessary to increase the proportion of cargo transported in this fashion in the Americas, in order to promote port development and, thus, increase employment opportunities for our populations; That Artificial Intelligence (AI), with its challenges, has played a transformative role in port development, improving various aspects of port operations, logistics, and infrastructure; That port modernization, including the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence, will bring growth and therefore competitiveness to the economies of the Americas, and that member states in the

populations; That Artificial Intelligence (AI), with its challenges, has played a transformative role in port development, improving various aspects of port operations, logistics, and infrastructure; That port modernization, including the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence, will bring growth and therefore competitiveness to the economies of the Americas, and that member states in the Resolution of Roatan 2023, renewed their commitments to continue modernizing and moving forward with practices in accordance with their needs; and TAKING INTO ACCOUNT: That Article 5 of the Rules of Procedure of the CIP provides that the Committee shall hold a regular meeting at least every three years; That the Thirteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP was held in June 2023, and in compliance with the CIP Rules of Procedure and the SEDI Sectorial Ministerial Meeting Cycle, Barbados has offered to host the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP in 2026; That the Draft Agenda for the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP has been approved by the CIP Executive Board (CECIP) during their Twenty Fifth Meeting held February 14, 2025 and by CIDI during the regular meeting held May 27, 2025;

RESOLVES:

1. To accept with gratitude the offer by the Government of Barbados to host the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), in Bridgetown, Barbados, and update the dates for the meeting to be held from June 8 through 10, 2026 with the theme “The scope of Artificial Intelligence: Reshaping Strategies for Sustainable and Secure ports”.

2. To urge the member states to participate through their national port authorities or high authorities in said meeting by sending their highest-level port officials.- 33. To instruct that the maximum permissible amount of the funds provided for under Chapter 7, Subprogram 74F of the 2026 program-budget of the Organization be allocated, in accordance with the guidelines set forth in resolution CP/RES. 982 (1797/11), to prepare for and hold the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP, to be held within the framework of CIDI.

4. To instruct the General Secretariat to assist, through the Executive Secretariat for

accordance with the guidelines set forth in resolution CP/RES. 982 (1797/11), to prepare for and hold the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP, to be held within the framework of CIDI.

To instruct the General Secretariat to assist, through the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) and the CIP Secretariat, with the preparations and organization of the Fourteenth Regular Meeting of the CIP, and to report to the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) on its outcomes.
