FOR THE FIFTY-SIXTH REGULAR SESSION

OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Notes of the Chair of the Preparatory Committee

1. This draft agenda is being transmitted to the governments of the member states in accordance with Article 31 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Assembly, incorporating the comments and proposals received as of May 8, 2026, that is, 45 days prior to J une 22, 2026, the opening date of the fifty-sixth regular session.

2. Delegations with additional comments and proposals are invited to submit them by Friday, May 22, 2026. That date marks the deadline of 30 days prior to the opening date of the session, by which the chair intends to convene the Preparatory Committee to approve the draft agenda, in accordance with Article 32 of the Rules of Procedure.

3. Delegations are reminded that, in accordance with Article 32 of the Rules of Procedure, once the Preparatory Committee has approved the draft agenda, new topics may be included only by the vote of two thirds of the members of that committee, at least 30 da ys prior to the opening date of the session of the General Assembly.

4. Delegations are also reminded that, in accordance with Article 20 of the Rules of Procedure, the Preparatory Committee shall adopt recommendations on the draft agenda no later than 15 days before the opening of the session, making June 7, 2026, the deadline for such an agreement.
