NOTE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL FORWARDING THE REQUEST FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION OF WOMEN FOR A SLOT FOR AN ORAL PRESENTATION OF THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States —Office of the Secretary General—presents its compliments to the Chair of the Preparatory Committee of the General Assembly and has the honor to forward, for the appropriate purposes, the enclos ed communication from Her Excellency Niurka del Carmen Palacio, Minister of Women of Panama and President of the InterAmerican Commission of Women.

That communication, inter alia, requests the inclusion of a slot in the agenda of the fifty-sixth regular session of the General Assembly.

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States —Office of the Secretary General—avails itself of this opportunity to convey to the Chair of the Preparatory Committee of the General Assembly the renewed assurances of its highest consideration.

In my capacity as President of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), I am grateful for the invitation to attend the fifty-sixth regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization

Excellency:

In my capacity as President of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), I am grateful for the invitation to attend the fifty-sixth regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), to be held in Panama City, Panama, from June 22 to 24, 2026.

In that regard, I would like to inform you that the Fortieth Assembly of Delegates of the CIM will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 28 and 29 this year, during which the CIM will elect its new officers for the period 2026 –2029. Therefore, I will ask the Executive Secretariat to inform you immediately after those elections of the name and contact information of the new President of the CIM, so that you may again address this kind invitation to her.

Bearing in mind the participation of the president-elect in the fifty-sixth regular session of the OAS General Assembly, I kindly request your good offices in granting, as has been the practice at previous sessions of the OAS General Assembly, a slot on th e agenda of the Assembly for the presentation of the 2025 Annual Report of the CIM.

Regarding the accreditation of the delegation of the CIM, please find attached note verbale CIM-04-046-26 requesting accreditation of the CIM delegation for the fifty-sixth regular session of the OAS General Assembly.
