DRAFT DECLARATION

COMMEMORATION OF THE THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE

INTER-AMERICAN COUNCIL FOR INTEGRAL DEVELOPMENT (CIDI) TO BE SUBMITTED

TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT ITS FIFTY-SIXTH REGULAR SESSION

(Agreed by the Committee at its meeting held on April 27, and submitted to the Inter-American Council for Integral Development for its consideration)

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ,

RECOGNIZING that, in accordance with the Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS), integral development is one of the essential purposes of the Organization of American States and that it contributes to the elimination of extreme poverty and inequalities, as well as to the promotion of the well-being of the peoples of the Hemisphere;

BEARING IN MIND that the Inter -American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) was established in 1996, upon the entry into force of the Protocol of Managua, as the principal organ of the Organization in the area of partnership for integral development;

RECOGNIZING ALSO that CIDI is the inter -American forum for political dialogue, consensus-building, and partnership for integral development;

RECOGNIZING that, for 30 years, CIDI has served as a valuable permanent forum for political dialogue, consultation, and cooperation among the member states, contributing to efforts to address the main development challenges in the economic, social, educati onal, cultural, scientific, technological, productive, and environmental spheres in the region;

EMPHASIZING that CIDI promotes the strengthening of national capacities, the exchange of experiences, and the implementation of initiatives through its committees, ministerial and high -level meetings, and other sectoral processes, with the aim of advancing well-being and integral development

UNDERSCORING the need to strengthen its policy coordination capacity, enhance the effectiveness of its sectoral and ministerial processes, optimize coordination among its subsidiary bodies, and promote more strategic, sustainable, and results -oriented cooperation under the integral development pillar,- 2DECLARES:

1. That t hroughout 2026, the thirtieth anniversary of the Inter -American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) is comme morated, recognizing its valuable contribution to political dialogue, partnership for development, and the achievement of results in the area of integral development in the Americas.

2. That it reaffirms the role of CIDI as the principal organ of the Organization of American States in the area of integral development and as a preeminent space for the coordination of partnership-for-development policies, priorities, and actions among the member states , as well as i ts commitment to consolidating and strengthening CIDI as the central body for political and technical coordination under the integral development pillar.

3. Its recognition of the work carried out within the framework of CIDI, including that of its committees, working groups, ministerial and high -level meetings, sectoral processes, and other mechanisms, as well as the support provided by the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development

(SEDI) to the fulfillment of the mandates issued by the member states.

4. Its commitment to continue to promote the key role of CIDI in promoting the exchange of experiences, the systematization of good practices, the promotion of national capacity-building, and the formulation and implementation of partnership-for-development initiatives that yield concrete and sustainable results in the area of integral development.

5. That it reaffirms the commitment of Member States to support in a continued and consistent manner the activities and programs promoted within the framework of the CIDI sectoral and ministerial processes.

6. That it recognizes the importance of the strategic support of permanent observers, international organizations, and other stakeholders, in accordance with the rules of the Organization, in the continued implementation of the aforementioned activities and programs through, inter alia, continued and consistent support through technical cooperation, knowledge -sharing, mobilization of financial and in-kind resources, as well as the establishment of partnerships, including those of a publicprivate nature.

7. The relevance of preserving and disseminat ing the historical memory of the InterAmerican Council for Integral Development and strengthen its future strategic projection.
