NOTE FROM THE CHAIR OF THE PERMANENT COUNCIL FORWARDING INFORMATION TO THE CAAP REGARDING THE REQUEST FOR A CLASSIFICATION REVIEW OF THE POST OF OMBUDSPERSONFebruary 20, 2025 His Excellency Benoni Belli Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the Organization of American States Chair of the Permanent Council Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs Washington, D.C.

Excellency: I have the honor to address Your Excellency with reference to the decision taken by the Permanent Council at its regular meeting held on February 18, regarding the note from the Secretary General informing this Chair of a request for a classification review of the post of Ombudsperson. Said note was distributed as document CP/doc.6172/26.

Pursuant to that decision and based on the functions conferred on the Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs (CAAP) under Article 19 of the Rules of Procedure of the Permanent Council, I am pleased to forward herewith, through your good offices, the aforementioned information for the Committee's consideration. I would also like to let you know that, in keeping with the Permanent Council's decision, the Chair will be providing the CAAP in due course with any additional information it receives concerning the process of reviewing the classification of the post of Ombudsperson in order to facilitate its proper analysis. Lastly, once the aforementioned process has been completed, I would be grateful if the CAAP would advise the Permanent Council of the outcomes of its deliberations and submit any recommendations it deems appropriate, for consideration by the member states.
