Summary of the regular meeting of the CAJP held on February 26, 20261/

The regular meeting of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CAJP) was held in the Simón Bolívar Room and presided over by Ambassador Edison Lanza, Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the OAS, in his capacity as Chair of the CAJP. The meeting was called to order at 2:37 p.m.

A quorum was established with the presence of representatives of Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Lucia, United States, and Uruguay.

In addition to the persons mentioned in the order of business, also present at the dais were the Chief of Staff of the Assistant Secretary General, Ms. Gloria Uribe; and the Senior Specialist of the Department of International Law, Dr. Jaime Moreno-Valle.

Upon concluding consideration of this item, the Committee took note both of the presentations by the Director of the Department for Effective Public Management (DEPM) and by the Specialists of that Department regarding the Report of the DEPM on the follow -up to the mandates assigned by the General Assembly in the resolution titled “Strengthening Democracy” (document CP/CAJP-3888/26), as well as of the statements by member states.- 33.
