COMMITTEE ON JURIDICAL AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS Original: Spanish Summary of the regular meeting held on March 12, 2026 1 / The regular meeting of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CAJP) was held in the Simón Bolívar Room and presided over by Edison Lanza, Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the OAS, in his capacity as Chair of the CAJP. The meeting was called to order at 2:37 p.m. A quorum was established with the presence of representatives of Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States, and Uruguay. 1. Consideration and adoption of the order of business (CP/CAJP 3892/26 rev. 1) The order of business was adopted without amendment.

2. Presentation of the Annual Report of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to the General Assembly at its fifty-sixth regular session (document CP/doc. 6183/26 – available in Spanish and English) The annual report of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to the General Assembly at its fifty-sixth regular session was presented to the CAJP and was published and distributed as document

Judge Rodrigo Mudrovitsch, President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, presented the report in person at OAS headquarters. 2 / The text of his presentation was distributed as document CP/CAJP/INF 1145/26 (in Portuguese). Then, 14 member states made observations and recommendations in relation to the Annual Report of the Court.

Panamá After concluding its consideration of the report, the CAJP took note of the Annual Report of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights presented by its president, as well as of the observations and recommendations made by member states in that regard, all of which will be incorporated into the report to be submitted to the General Assembly for consideration at its fifty-sixth regular session

(document pending). In addition, the Committee bade farewell to the Secretary of the Court, Dr. Pablo Saavedra Alessandri, who, at the end of March 2026, would conclude a career of more than 30 years with the Court and the Organization of American States, including service as Assistant Secretary from 2001 to 2003 and at the helm of the Secretariat of the Court since 2004.

Then, 17 member states made observations and recommendations in relation to the Annual Report of the CJI.

4. Other business The Chair and the delegations bade a heartfelt farewell to the Alternate Representative of Chile, Mr. Rodrigo Dominguez Salas, as he concluded his assignment in Washington, where he had represented his country at the OAS and, in particular, in the CAJP for the previous five years.

In conclusion, the Chair invited all those who had taken the floor at the meeting to send the texts of their presentations or statements to the Secretary of the CAJP (aaristizabal@oas.org), for their verbatim inclusion in the summary of the meeting.

Note: The next meeting of the CAJP was scheduled for Thursday, March 25, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.

Having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:21 p.m.
