COMMITTEE ON JURIDICAL AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS Original: Spanish Summary of the regular meeting of the CAJP held on April 23, 2026 1/ The regular meeting of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs (CAJP) was held in the Simón Bolívar Room and presided over by Edison Lanza, Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the OAS, in his capacity as Chair of the CAJP. The meeting was called to order at 2:42 p.m. A quorum was established with the presence of representatives of Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Lucia, United States, and Uruguay. 1. Consideration and adoption of the order of business (CP/CAJP-3895/26) The order of business was adopted without amendment.

2. Presentation of the 2025 Annual Report of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to the General Assembly at its fifty-sixth regular session The 2025 Annual Report of the Inter -American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to the General Assembly at its fifty -sixth regular session ( CP/doc.6197/26 rev. 1) was presented to the CAJP at the meeting.

The Chair of the IACHR, Edgar Stuardo Ralón Orellana, presented the report in person. The text of his presentation was subsequently distributed as a document CP/CAJP/INF.1152/26. CAJP at the meeting. United States After concluding its consideration of the matter, the CAJP took note of the 2025 Annual Report of the Inter -American Commission on Human Rights presented by its chair, Edgar Stuardo Ralón Orellana, as well as of the observations and recommendations made by member states in that regard, all of which will be incorporated into the report to be submitted to the General Assembly for consideration at its fifty-sixth regular session (document pending).
