OF THE GUIDELINES FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN OAS ACTIVITIES [CP/RES. 759 (1217/99)] [ Corporación Espacio de Mujer]ANALYSIS OF THE REQUEST BY CORPORACIÓN ESPACIOS DE MUJER TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE OAS This document was prepared by the Office of Relations with Civil Society, under the Office of the Assistant Secretary General, to provide information to the member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) on the civil society organization Corporación Espacios de Mujer [Spaces for Women Corporation]. The information contained in this report responds to resolution CP/RES. 759 (1217/99), "Guidelines for the Participation of Civil Society Organizations in OAS Activities," and includes a summary and a list of the various elements and documentation submitted by Corporación Espacios de Mujer, in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned resolution.

1. Background A nonprofit organization, Corporación Espacios de Mujer was established in Buenaventura, Colombia, on September 8, 2004. Its mission is to dedicate itself to prevention, comprehensive care, investigation and advocacy against trafficking in persons, with special emphasis on protection and empowerment of women, girls, and adolescents who are victims or at risk.

Corporación Espacios de Mujer focuses on promoting human rights and working toward those rights being restored and enforced for people affected by human trafficking, by coordinating with government, multilateral, community, and private organizations, at both the national and international

levels. Its work is geared toward building an exploitationand violence-free society, where every individual has access to protection, justice, reparation, and a dignified future. It secures funding by providing social services, and through international cooperation, donations, and contributions from volunteers. Corporación Espacios de Mujer submitted its application to the OAS on August 4, 2025.

Primary areas of activity and contributions that could be of interest to the OAS Corporación Espacios de Mujer focuses its efforts on combating human trafficking. It does so by promoting prevention, comprehensive protection, and advocacy, as well as directly engaging in victim care, promoting investigation processes, community-building, and training. That was why it initiated and implemented various international cooperation projects, such as “Assistance to Victims of Human Trafficking for the Effective Reestablishment of Their Rights.” The Foundation believes its experience working toward a human trafficking-free society, as well as in providing comprehensive care to those affected by it, could be of tremendous value to the work of the OAS.

4. Identification of potential areas of collaboration with the OAS Corporación Espacios de Mujer proposes to collaborate with the OAS in the following areas: Working together with the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), to pursue cooperation, collaboration, and assistance to women regarding their economic rights.

Providing the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), specifically its Rapporteurship on the Rights of Women, with input to help promote, protect, and respect the rights of girls, adolescents, and adult women in contexts that may be affected by human trafficking. Cooperating with the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security, specifically with the Department against Transnational Organized Crime, to work on and address as a region underlying causes of human trafficking. Follow-up on implementation of Summits of the Americas mandates and OAS General Assembly and Permanent Council resolutions. Promoting civil society participation in activities organized by the OAS and registration of civil society organizations in the OAS roster.
