APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION PRESENTED PURSUANT TO ITEM 6

OF THE GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION BY CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN OAS ACTIVITIES [CP/RES. 759 (1217/99)] [ Asociación R.E.D.I. (RED POR LOS DERECHOS DE LAS PERSONAS CON DISCAPACIDAD) TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE OAS This document was prepared by the Office of Relations with Civil Society of the Office of the Assistant Secretary General to provide information to the member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) on the civil society organization Asociación R.E.D.I. (Red por los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad). The information contained in this report is provided pursuant to resolution CP/RES. 759 (1217/99), “Guidelines for the Participation of Civil Society Organizations in OAS Activities,” and includes a summary and a list of data and documentation presented by Asociación R.E.D.I. (Red por los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad) in accordance with the aforementioned Guidelines.

1. Background Asociación REDI, a non-profit organization, was established in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 1, 2006. Its mission is to promote the full inclusion of persons with disabilities by defending

their rights, ensuring their participation in the formulation and implementation of public policies, and advancing equal opportunities and social integration. Asociación REDI focuses on promoting the realization of the rights of persons with disabilities as a crosscutting social issue that must be addressed across all areas of public life. Accordingly, it works on multiple issues, including gender, employment, accessibility, education, and access to justice. Asociación REDI obtains funding through membership dues, donations, and grants. Asociación REDI submitted its application to the OAS on August 25, 2025.

Primary areas of activity and contributions that could be of interest to the OAS Asociación REDI works to promote and defend the rights of persons with disabilities, adopting a human rights-based approach rather than a welfare approach. To that end, it seeks to promote the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, foster inclusive public policies, and provide training to organizations and public officials. REDI prepared the Informe Alternativo sobre la situación de las personas con discapacidad en Argentina (2018-2022)

[Alternative report on the situation of persons with disabilities in Argentina (2018–2022)], participated in public hearings before the House of Deputies of Argentina, and published outreach materials on autonomy, inclusive education, and the rights of women with disabilities. The association considers that its experience in defending rights, promoting inclusive policies, and encouraging citizen participation can make a meaningful contribution to the work of the OAS in the area of human rights and inclusion.

4. Identification of potential areas of collaboration with the OAS Asociación REDI (Red por los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad) would like to work with the OAS in the following areas: Collaborating with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, especially with the office of its Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the areas of cooperation, collaboration, and recognition of the rights of persons with disabilities; Working with the Department of Access to Rights on the promotion and protection of public policies aimed at the inclusion of persons with disabilities, contributing to the Technical Secretariat of the Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities; Follow-up on the implementation of mandates of the Summits of the Americas, the OAS General Assembly, and Permanent Council; Promoting participation by civil society organizations in activities organized by the OAS, as well as registration of civil society organizations in the OAS roster.
