Summary of the meeting held on April 21, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

The regular meeting of the Committee was presided over by its chair, Ambassador Mayerlyn Cordero Díaz, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the OAS. A quorum was established with the presence of representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, United States, and Uruguay. 1. Adoption of the order of business The order of business, document CP/CISC-1265/26, was adopted by the Committee without any changes.
2. Participation of Civil Society Organizations in OAS Activities • Presentation and consideration of applications by seven civil society organizations to be registered with the OAS
The Committee considered applications from the following 7 civil society organizations: Member States Argentina o Asociación R.E.D.I. (Red por los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad), CP/CISC1260/26 United States o Lumara Human Rights, CP/CISC-1262/26 o Humanitarian Focus Foundation (HFF), CP/CISC-1263/262Peru o Venezuelans’ International Care Assistance (Veneica), CP/CISC-1259/26

The Committee agreed on the seven requests and forwarded them to the Permanent Council in document CP/CISC-1266/26, with the recommendation that it consider approving their registration with the Organization. • Presentation of the Report on Registration of Civil Society Organizations with the OAS by the Office of Relations with Civil Society
Mrs. Paulina Corominas, Chief of the Office of Relations with Civil Society, presented a report on the registration of civil society organizations with the OAS. In addition, she referred to the process for inviting organizations not registered with the Org anization, as well as other social actors, to the coming regular session of the General Assembly. The delegation of the United States expressed appreciation for the presentation and referred to the importance of advancing the implementation of resolution CP/RES. 1305 (2587/26) on the merger of the Office of Relations with Civil Society and the civil society component of the Department of Summits, adopted by the Permanent Council at its regular meeting of April 8, 2026. The Committee considered and agreed on the document “Invitations to Civil Society Organizations Registered with the Organization of American States to the Fifty-sixth Regular Session of the General Assembly,” which was published with the classification CP/CISC-1264/26 rev. 1 and forwarded to the Permanent Council for consideration.- 33. Other business The delegation of the United States requested information on the estimated timeframe for the consolidation of the merger of the Office of Relations with Civil Society and the civil society component of the Department of Summits within the Office of the Assistant Secretary General, in order to fulfill the mandate contained in the first operative paragraph of resolution CP/RES. 1305 (2587/26). The Chief of Staff of the Assistant Secretary General informed that the appropriate steps were being taken and that information would be provided at the earliest opportunity.
