Excellency: I have the honor to address Your Excellency on behalf of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to respectfully request an extension of the statutory deadline for the submission of the 2025 Annual Report of the IACHR to the Permanent Council.

The Executive Secretariat of the IACHR is working with the utmost dedication to fulfill this mandate. However, the preparation of the Annual Report has encountered unexpected delays as a result of the recent change in the composition of the Commission, as well as the need to allow States a reasonable time to submit comments on their respective reports. In light of the above and to ensure that the 2025 Annual Report maintains the rigor, accuracy, and high standards that characterize the work of the IACHR and that the Permanent Council requires, the Commission kindly requests a short, two-week extension of the deadline for its submission, initially scheduled for March 24.
