Excellency: On behalf of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), I extend cordial greetings.

As this is my first report as Director General, I wish to express to you and the Secretary General my willingness to continue working together to strengthen solutions for sustainable development in the Americas. In 2025, as the specialized agency for agriculture of the inter-American system, the Institute, together with its member states, made the following three strategic contributions: • Strengthening the capacity of member countries to design evidence-based, comparable, and measurable agrifood policies as a foundation for effective democratic governance and regional security. • Serving as a technical bridge that transforms international cooperation into concrete investment to promote productive resilience, health security, and prosperity in rural areas. • Promoting agrifood innovation as an engine of economic growth, trade expansion, and the generation of employment opportunities, thereby reaffirming the strategic value of agriculture for social stability and peace in the Americas. In accordance with the instructions received, I enclose herewith the 2025 Annual Report of the IICA in the four official languages of the Organization of American States. I should be most grateful, Excellency, of your good offices in ensuring that this report is transmitted to the member states and avail myself of this opportunity to convey the assurances of my highest consideration.
