NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE PERMANENT COUNCIL

OEA863 6.6.3.4 The Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Organization of American States presents its compliments to the Chair of the Permanent Council and, in its capacity as the Pro Tempore Secretariat of the Consultative Committee of the Inter-American Convention against the Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials (CIFTA), respectfully requests the inclusion of the item “Place and date of the twenty-fifth regular meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials (CIFTA)” on the agenda of the next regular meeting of the Permanent Council, with a view to modifying the date of that meeting as set by resolution CP/RES. 1299 (2575/25), adopted by the Permanent Council on December 17, 2025. In that regard, the delegation of Mexico wishes to communicate the decision to change the date of the twenty-fifth regular meeting of the CIFTA Consultative Committee from April 7 to May 19, 2026. Consequently, the first operative paragraph of the aforesaid resolution would read as follows: “To set May 19, 2026, as the date for the twenty-fifth regular meeting of the

Consequently, the first operative paragraph of the aforesaid resolution would read as follows: “To set May 19, 2026, as the date for the twenty-fifth regular meeting of the Consultative Committee of CIFTA, which will be held in a hybrid format at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States.” Since this request entails reconsidering a decision previously adopted by the Permanent Council, the Permanent Mission of Mexico respectfully requests the Chair of the Permanent Council to convey this communication to all the permanent missions to the OAS, in order to inform them of the amendment to be made to the aforesaid resolution, which is attached hereto. The Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Organization of American States avails itself of this opportunity to reassure the Chair of the Permanent Council of its highest consideration.
