The Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the Organization of American States (OAS) presents its compliments to the Chair of the Permanent Council of the OAS and has the pleasure to request his good offices in arranging the inclusion of the following item on the order of business of the next regular meeting of the Permanent Council, scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026. “Threats to the constitutional order in Guatemala” The Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the OAS requests the inclusion of the aforementioned item in accordance with Article 42(b) of the Rules of Procedure, which provides for “the threat of occurrence of an unconstitutional interruption of the democratic order or an unconstitutional alteration of the constitutional regime that seriously impairs the democratic order in a member state.” The Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the OAS also requests leave for the virtual participation of the following speakers under this item: - Patricia Gamez, President of the College of Lawyers and Notaries of Guatemala - Astrid Lemus, Justice-elect of the Constitutional Court of Guatemala The Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the Organization of American States avails itself of this opportunity to convey to the Chair of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States the renewed assurances of its highest consideration.
