PLACE AND DATE OF THE NINTH MEETING

OF MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUBLIC SECURITY IN THE AMERICAS

(Adopted by the Permanent Council at its regular meeting, held on February 4, 2026) THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the offer made by the Government of Panama during the fiftyfifth regular session of the General Assembly to host the Ninth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA-IX), which was welcomed by the member states in the “Recommendations of Santiago de los Caballeros” adopted at the Eighth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA-VIII), held in June 2025 in the Dominican Republic; and MINDFUL that the Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas constitutes the highest-level hemispheric policy forum for strengthening cooperation, sharing information, and formulating recommendations on public security, based on the principles of the Charter of the Organization of American States, and thereby contributing to peace and security in the Americas,

RESOLVES:

1. To set October 22 and 23, 2026, as the dates for the Ninth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA-IX), to be held in Panama.

2. To request the General Secretariat to render the technical and administrative support necessary to prepare for said meeting and to make appropriate arrangements for it to be held, subject to the availability of resources allocated in the program-budget of the Organization and other resources for 2026.
