COMPONENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SUMMITS

(Adopted by the Permanent Council at its regular meeting, held on April 8, 2026) THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES, RECALLING General Assembly Resolution AG/RES. 1 (LVIII-E/25), which directed the merger for the Office of Relations with Civil Society and the Civil Society component of the Department of Summits under the Office of the Assistant Secretary General; TAKING NOTE of the General Assembly’s objective to enhance institutional coherence, efficiency, and coordination in the Organization’s engagement with Civil Society; and NOTING that the merger, as directed by the General Assembly, has not yet been fully implemented,

RESOLVES:

1. To instruct the Secretary General to proceed, without further delay, with the merger of the Office of Relations with Civil Society and the Civil Society component of the Department of Summits under the Office of the Assistant Secretary General, in accordance with the mandate established by General Assembly Resolution AG/RES. 1 (LVIII-E/25).

2. To instruct the Secretary General to take all necessary administrative and organizational measures within the General Secretariat to ensure the full and effective implementation of the merger.

3. To request the Secretary General to submit a written report to the Permanent Council, within thirty (30) days of the adoption of this resolution, detailing the measures taken to implement the merger and the current status of compliance with the General Assembly mandate.
