NOTICE

The General Secretariat presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions to the OAS, and with instructions of the Secretariat Pro Tempore of the Consultative Committee of the Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA), has the pleasure to refer to the Questionnaire on the Implementation and Effectiveness of CIFTA, the purpose of which is to measure the scope of the various provisions of the Convention and determine their impact on national legislation.

In accordance with the “Course of Action for the Operation and Implementation of the CIFTA,” the validity of which was extended during the Sixth Conference of the States Parties, the States Parties shall provide the Technical Secretariat, on a biennial basis, with updated information on the status of implementation of the CIFTA, through the “Questionnaire on the Implementation and Effectiveness of the CIFTA.” (CIFTA Questionnaire).

Consequently, Member States that have not done so during 2025 or 2026, or that have updates to report, are kindly requested to submit their questionnaires to the General Secretariat, through the Technical Secretariat of the CIFTA (mbejos@oas.org and pdeluca@oas.org). Questionnaires submitted before May 11 , 2026, will be taken into account in the report to be presented during the Twenty-Fifth Regular Meeting of the Consultative Committee of CIFTA, to be held on May 19, 2026,
