ACTIVITY REPORT BY THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) CHAIR ON PORT-CITY RELATION, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND GENDER EQUALITY Period June 2023 - May 2026 (Approved during the Fourth Plenary Session on Tuesday, June 9)

I. General objective of the TAG:

The TAG of Port -City Relation, Social Responsibility and Gender Equality, promotes the development of politics and guidelines for the governments and private sector for a responsible and socially inclusive management that fosters the creation of opportunit ies for the improvement of the port -city interrelation, through initiatives such as the improvement of work-family balance. Likewise, to continue promoting the incorporation of the right to equal participation in the port sector in order to expand opportunities for the professional and human development of women, identifying the situation in which they find themselves and which aspects need to be strengthened.

II. Members of the TAG:

1. In support of the activities to strengthen technical capacities and in continuity with the Plan of Action, update surveys and/or databases on their focus topics.

1. Name of the activity: Fifth Questionnaire on the Incorporation of the Gender Perspective in the Port Sector.

1. Objective: To create a baseline that provides information on the capacities of National Port Authorities, associate members and strategic partners of the CIP to incorporate the gender perspective in their management, as well as to have some quantitative data. The res ults of this questionnaire will be used to guide the activities of the TAG on gender issues, inclusive strategic actions and to carry out an analysis with the results of the previous questionnaires.

1. Results: Responses were received from 15 Spanish -speaking CIP member institutions and 11 English -speaking ones. Important information was gathered, highlighting that most of these organizations have over 250 employees, with fewer than 10 women in managerial positions. It was also found that the inclusion of women in the workforce is slightly higher in Spanish -speaking institutions. To view a summary of the survey results, click here.

2. Name of the activity: Sixth Questionnaire on the Incorporation of the Gender Perspective in the Port Sector.

1. Objective: To analyze the progress made on gender issues in the various National Port Authorities of the Hemisphere following up to the fifth questionnaire on the subject. Also, to gather information on the capacities of national port authorities, associate members and strategic partners of the CIP to incorporate the gender perspective in their management, as well as to have some quantitative data. 1. Results: Responses were received from 29 Spanish-speaking CIP member institutions and 9 English-speaking ones. Important information was collected, including that both groups need more knowledge of3

initiatives such as the Inter -American Program for the Promotion of Women's Human Rights and Gender Equity and Equality of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Strategic Plan of the InterAmerican Commission of Women (CIM) of the OAS, among others. It was also found that within the organizations to which they belong, it is necessary to create some internal program or project for women's empowerment. 2. Organize, in the next three (3) years and with the support of the CIP Secretariat, at least one hemispheric conference or seminar on the topics of competence of the

TAG.

Relations, Social Responsibility and Gender Equity .

1. Date and place: Online, November 13 and 14, 2025.

Objective: Provide an international platform for public and private dialogue, as well as the exchange of successful experiences that allows decision -makers from governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society to share policies and strategies that promote social responsibility and gender equity in their spaces and environments; as well as strengthen socially responsible port operations. It also conducted an assessment of the

1. Responsible Institutions : CIP Secretariat, Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and Network of Women of

Maritime Authorities of Latin America (Red MAMLa).

Results: An international platform w as provided where experts from public and private entities discuss the need for and benefits of a more integrated, inclusive and responsible port sector to facilitate connectivity between the city and the port, increase sustainability in port operations and promote the part icipation of women in the sector.

This two -day event promoted dialogue and cooperation between port authorities, international organizations, the private sector and civil society to move towards more humane, inclusive and sustainable ports. In addition, the exchange of experiences and good practices was encouraged, strengthening strategic and institutional4

alliances in line with the mandates of the CIP-OAS on sustainability, inclusion, and port resilience.

3. Activities in support of the work of the Secretariat in the context of the CIP Scholarship and Capacity Building Program (e.g. workshops, online courses, master's degrees, local and/or regional seminars, etc.)

1. Name of the activity : Virtual Dialogue: Beyond the Cargo: Promoting Wellbeing in Port Workers to Boost Productivity.

1. Date and place: May 29th, 2024, online.

1. Objective: To promote a positive, healthy, and safe work environment, which translates into greater productivity, efficiency, and profitability in the maritime-port sector.

1. Results: Visibility was increased regarding the various practices, policies, and activities being implemented by CIP community members to create a positive work environment. Representatives from MAERSK Panama, Empresa Multimodal in Colombia, and Boluda Corporación Marítima, Mexico Chapter, shared ideas and successful practices about workplace environments that prioritize employee health and well-being to foster successful synergies. More than 195 port officials from 13 CIP -OAS Member States participated.

4. Identify and compile materials (e.g., articles, best practices, processes, or services) relevant to the TAG topics for digital and/or print dissemination.

1. Name of the activity : Informative Bulletin : Port -City Relation,

Social Responsibility and Gender Equality.

1. Objective: To generate a space for meeting and linking both nationally and internationally with the aim of disseminating the work carried out by women in the port sector at a hemispheric level5

and sharing the actions that are being developed in social responsibility.

1. Results: The visibility of the different practices, policies and activities that are being implemented by the National Port Authorities regarding social responsibility in the sector was increased. In addition, the participation of women in the maritimeport and logistics sector was made known.

Awareness was raised about the importance of creating and promoting policies with a social responsibility approach within organizations and the current role of women in a sector that has long been exclusively male.
