Principal Investigator: Rowena Naidoo
The aim of the project is to develop an anti-doping education framework for the World ParaVolley Association (WPV). In other words, our goal is to create a program that helps ParaVolley athletes and staff understand the importance of fair play and the rules against using unfair advantages, like doping.
To achieve this, we have four main objectives:
1. To conduct a scoping review on anti-doping education framework in parasports.
Learn from Others: We will look at how other sports educate their players about playing fairly and avoiding cheating.
2. To explore the knowledge and practices of the employees at WPV and their education programs as well as to determine what the current level of anti-doping knowledge is amongst athlete support personnel (ASP).
What WPV Staff Know: We will find out what the WPV staff already know about these rules and how they teach them to players.
3. To identify the current knowledge level of athletes who are a part of WPV.
Player Knowledge: We will determine what ParaVolley players know about the rules against cheating.
4. To develop a professional education program that standardizes all the required topics of knowledge for the WPV to utilize when delivering anti-doping education to their athletes and ASP.
Design a Teaching Plan: We will create a comprehensive plan that WPV can use to teach both players and staff about fair play and the rules against doping. This plan will cover all the essential topics they need to understand.
In a nutshell, we're working to ensure that everyone involved in ParaVolley is well-informed about fair play and anti-doping rules to promote integrity and fairness in the sport.
